One of the clearest and most informative of Philip's tapes shows that the space people were keen to listen to the BBC's first broadcast performance of An Overture by Lennox Berkeley. A few days earlier his tapes had picked up the fragment: "n'overture, he only wrote one", so he tuned in on his radio and set the microphone to sake the recording the round-about way. Throughout the overture there is not a murmur, but in the religious talk preceding it there is a lot of intrusive comment, ending up with "Quiet now, it's on!" Then, in the item following, one hears two fascinating orders going out to listeners unseen, in a mixture of English and some other lingo: "Use short wave. Change to 1.2 siddybolarius" and "Take part in air arm yava nyanna donava ionosphere". Cheers for the Spatial Navy!

That's very like some of the words occurring in Bernard Byron's song Ms. Anya Ray. In fact mee-see-mar occurs on some of Philip's other tapes; he said it was a greeting in solexmar. He also had tapes on which these solexmar words followed an interlingual word like sputnik... anya pardoo.
(From Heptics. a 7-point Inquiry, published in Tony's magazine The Crow, January 1979.)

These recordings are either in English or in a totally unknown language; there are no recognisable phrases from other Earth languages among them; thus refuting the suggestion that their origin is in freak radio transmissions. In any case, the microphone is not sensitive to radio signals but to sounds.

I seem to have received two translations, if I may so designate the rapid follow up of an English word by one in an unknown language. These were given in the recording of the Children's Party. The first is "sputnik: an-ya-par-doo" and the second "Hallelujah: Nyanna Podo". In this sequence I also recorded one of the boys shouting Yaba Hoosita. Some months after this I recorded my "laughing lady" saying "Nyanna puisee" Thus the word nyanna has appeared in three different contexts.

Early one morning in 1958 I recorded a deep-voiced man saying "herashidoo" and again a few months later saying "hereshidoo check". Early in l959 there was the friendly voice of another man saying "Debom sera", with a stress on the second ayllable. In December 1960 there came a variant, in the voice of a different man: "Debom sior". The Laughing Lady says "Mee-see-mar" in June 1958, with a highly feminine and embarrassed giggle. Six weeks later one of several men says, without the giggle,"Mee-see-see". These recordings are certainly very fragmentary, sometimes being unmistakably clipped short.

From Philip's contribution to Earth Men, Space Men, Tony Wedd's unpublished contact book.

Two weeks after the ‘Children’s Party’, I picked up the same young boy shouting, ‘ya-ba-huseta’. Following that came a very amorous sounding lady saying,’Mee-see-mah’, followed by a self-conscious giggle. Later I got a man saying, ,Mee-see-see’. The syllable ‘Nya’ (as in piano) occurs in at least three words recorded. In addition to ‘Nyanna-poddo’ we have ‘Nyanna-puizee’ and ‘Ya-va-nyanna-donnava’. Early one morning we picked up a man saying ‘Hiroshidu’.

About three months later, when in Shrewsbury, Shropshire (about 80 miles from home) when staying with a friend – UFO author Gavin Gibbons – came the voice of possibly the same man, saying, ‘Hirashidu-check’! Apparently the change of vowel alters the meaning of the word. On another occasion a group of boys and girls shouted, ‘Driota’, followed by a female giggle. There are a great many more words on my tapes. Easter 1958 was a time I remember when it seemed that on each occasion I switched on my machine something new and exciting was recorded.

The tapes of Philip Rodgers contain many words in a seemingly unknown language, and a number of instances in which they seem to be paired with English words, seemingly giving a translation. Communications from several sources seem to indicate that the language is
Solexmal, the apparent interlingua of the Solar System, and some of the words on the tapes have corroborations in words others have had from other sources. The list below is of all the Solexmal words I am reasonably sure of. The sources are the writings of George Hunt Williamson, the tape recordings of Philip Rodgers, the song "Ms Anya Ray'' by Bernard Byron (entirley in Solexmal, partly translated), and my own thought communications. There are also contextual deductions.

Some major corroborations are:

I) Anna, translated as 'sound". Occurs on its own in the song, as part of Nyannapoda in Philip Rodgers' recording. If Nyanna means God, could be an equivalent of "The Word". Also corroborated by the Sanskrit 'vimana" (a sound-propelled craft?), and "nirvana" (the Buddhist "roaring silence").

2) Si, translated as "greet". Occurs in the two greetings recorded by Philip Rodgers, which are logically compatible, and also occurs in the song. The greetings are "misimar" (my tongue greets - mar or mal being tongue according to Hunt Williamson) and "ya ba hoo si ta" (with love we greet you - translated by Bernard Byron earlier as "we greet you with love").

3) Ba, translated as "love" or "loving". Occurs in "barraga" ("friends" according to George Hunt Williamson) and "ya ba hoo si ta" mentioned above.

4) Anya or aniya, translated as "spaceship". Occurs in Philip Rodgers' tape as "anya pardoo - sputnik" and many times in the song. The assumption was that "anya pardoo" meant 'orbiting spaceship'.

5) Solexmal - the name of the language itself - was received independently by Hunt Williamson as Solexmal and Philip Rodgers as Solexmar.

There are also seeming corroborations with terrestrial languages - notably "akash", "nyanna poda", "baston", "ben", "homma", 'ray kye", "murra', "anna', etc.

The above words have varying levels of corroboration. Some which are simply my own thought communications, have none. Others include a lot of guesswork. But there seems to be a central core of items which have some interesting confirmations from various sources.

Ms Aniya Ray - The Space Song of Bernard Byron

Although not completely done, a fair amount of this song seems to be consistently translated from fragments of Solex Mal language derived from various communications. The word Anya, or Aniya, which occurs in the title and frequently in the song, has been translated as "spaceship" from the Philip Rodgers taped communication "aniya pardoo - sputnik, thought to be a translation, and meaning "orbiting spaceship" ("aniya mungadoo" possibly one which flies straight). So the song seems to be about the construction of a spaceship.

Colour codes for translation origin: words confirmed elsewhere, blue; words guessed from similarity to a terrestrial word, green; words guessed from context and repeated with similar context in the song, orange; words just guessed from context, red.
